My Uncle Joe and Jeff have been together for 13 1/2 years. When Maryland passed Question 6 (marriage equality), they jumped at the chance to make their union official. They were the first same-sex couple to be married in Montgomery County at the Rockville Courthouse.
Because of New Years day, they had to schedule it for 9 am January 2nd.
I had the honor of being the official photographer. But boy were they popular! First, the Gaithersburg Gazette interviewed them prior to the ceremony. When we all walked out, Montgomery County Media jumped in and asked them questions. WUSA9 took footage during the ceremony and interviewed them on camera after. Not only that, but there was another family photographer and videographer!
I felt like a part of the paparazzi.
